Cooking Channel: The New Food Network

You might guess my favorite food tv network is Food Network - full of celebrities and fun shows. But you would be wrong. The Cooking Channel (launched by Food Network) is much better if what you're interested in is cooking and food. I can't put down the Food Network or say I never watch it, but it has become so full of competition & reality shows and is starting to lose its "food knack". With competition shows on every channel now, I can hardly care less about who's the next top chef, sweetest baker, blah blah. What I want to know is how to cook and to learn more about different cuisines and ingredients.

The Food Network will deliver Sandra Lee & Rachel Ray, while Cooking Channel gives you a better lineup of hosts like Luke Nguyen, Kelsey Nixon, Giada DeLaurentiis, Ching-He Huang, Nigella Lawson, Anjum Anand... I guess what I'm getting at is you will get a greater variety of recipes with Cooking Channel whether it's American, French, Middle Eastern, Indian, Chinese, Vietnamese, Italian, Spanish, Southern, etc. I want these shows to teach me something new. I want to feel interested and inspired to do new things. I want to have the knowledge to appreciate different foods (whether I like them or not) and different styles of cooking.

As a matter of fact, I make sure to watch or at least DVR a few shows from Cooking Channel each week. If you're interested in food and cooking new recipes/using new food ideas, I suggest checking out Cooking Channel. I promise it's more inspiring than watching another lineup of crappy network reality competition shows.
